post demolition

I previously showed some pics of the bedroom demo we had going on. We are almost finished now. We've still got some painting to do. (when the weather clears up . . . who am I kidding - this IS Seattle!) Anyways, here are some of the before and after pics. Later on I'll post a pic of the completed areas. The first pic is the hallway where we removed a closet, and the other three are from inside the boys bedroom. We removed to walls near the entry and expanded the closet so that there was enough room for the two of them.

Do the Puyallup . . .

. . . can you hear the tune in your head? For those of you not from around here, that's the beginning of the theme jingle for the Puyallup Fair. Which is where we went this weekend. We saw some farm life, explored a fire engine, rode some rides, and came home stuffed full of scones, funnel cake and elephant ears!

Drip Drip Here, Drip Drip There

Oh the trials and tribulations of being a homeowner! We had all our home repairs that we wanted to do in mind we bought our house. We just hadn't anticipated needed home repairs. Like a leaky/clogged sewer system. It all started a couple of weeks ago with an overflowed toilet. The problem got worse and worse. So hubby dug up the main line where it attaches to the house and found a leak. Easy enough to fix. But it does require time during daylight hours to fix! So, two weeks later . . . its all fixed. But he have the same problem. Call in Mr. Beacon to discover a clog further down caused by a break in the pipe - and tree roots growing into the pipe! Mr. Beacon thought that hubby must have been a plumber because of the good job he had done on the other repair. So now that we know what the problem is, Hubby is determined to fix it! Mr. Beacon tells hubby that the whole line from the house to the main is made of concrete and it is very corroded. In the near future it will all have to be replaced! We have all this going on, on top of the demo we started a few weeks back! (which is mostly fininshed now. the walls are all up and ready to be painted.) And then with all of todays rain, there is a drip from the fan vent in the bathroom! Hubby is just a little overwhelmed this weekend. We are pretty sure someone forget the cap on the vent on the roof. But you just dont wanna climb up there while its raining to check! Next weekend is looking like good weather, so maybe we get some projects finished up! Wish us good luck!

2007 First Day of School

So, both kids loved their first few days at Jr. High School. They have made a few friends, found all their classes, and brought home mounds of paper work for me to fill out. Miss K. is taking band as her elective for the year, so that she can continue with her flute. She is really persistent with the band suff. She is also planning to join the jazz band that they offer at school. The practices are three days, an hour before school starts. (Which means she has to be at school at 6:30 A.M.) Did I mention she "LUCKED OUT" on her schedule and got FIRST PERIOD P.E. class. Fun stuff! Mr. A ended with last period P.E. And he is doing really well with the class changes. I think its helping him to be a bit more social. Here's a pic of him and Miss K. from the first day of school (and no we did not sign him up for military school! The camo theme was what he choose this year. It seems every year there is some sort of theme to the school clothes he chooses)

On the right is one of the pair of school shoes Miss K. choose. Then Little Man had to get some that matched. Apparently the skull theme is very popular with Miss K. this year.

What did you do for LABOR DAY?

We had some actually labor going on here. On Saturday, we got all the shelving through out the house finally put up. And all the knick knacks on them too! On Sunday we had some friends over for a BBQ! Hubby was so happy to have his BBQ out of the storage! (we werent allowed to have a BBQ at the apartment because it was a fire hazard. Its been in storage almost two years!) And then on Sunday we started one of the big house projects. There was this hall closet that cut into on the bedrooms and took up alot of room. Since there are three closet in the hall, we decide we could get rid of this one and add some space to the boys bedroom. So down came a few wall. During the week we will finish putting the drywall up, redesigning the closet and paint the room. Everyone was really getting into the demolition spirit! I'll do some before and after pics when we get the room finished. I also added some pics of the new house in the sidebar. Click on the Flickr badge to see them bigger!
